Employee Wellness Program
Provider: Wellness Council of Northeast
Ohio, (440) 354-8057
Seventy percent of all health care costs are related to lifestyle. The yearly double
digit increase in healthcare has no easy solution, but a more productive, healthier
employee as a result of implementing low cost health improvement programs is good for
business, good for the community and good for the employee.

Chamber Weight loss and exercise Challenge Three times a year the
Wellness Council offers a ten-week exercise and eat right contest to NOACC Chamber
members. Following the nationally recognized "Dump Your Plump" rules, local
chamber contests use a name they choose, such as Beachwood Bulge Busters, Rocky River
Round Off or the Brecksville Wellness Challenge. Obesity is endemic in today's society.
Offering a safe, effective and proven means to increase exercise while losing weight is
truly a community-minded activity. The contest is free to the Chambers and their member
companies.
Quitline Nicotine Replacement Therapy Smoking Cessation Program
Smoking is the number one leading cause of preventable deaths in the United States.
Smokers on average cost employers $3000 more in direct medical and indirect lost
productivity cost each year. NOACC Chambers can take advantage of a new partnership formed
with the Ohio Tobacco Use Prevention and Control Foundation (TUPCF) to promote the Ohio
Tobacco Quit Line, 800-QUIT-NOW, and receive subsidized nicotine replacement therapy
patches. Through the efforts of the Wellness Council of Northeast Ohio, NOACC is the first
Chamber Association in the Country to offer subsidized patches in conjunction with the
national Quitline. Click here for more information.
Walk Across America Pedometer Contest Pedometers contest are a proven
low cost way to increase exercise. This community contest offered at the worksite can be
used as a fist step towards increasing daily exercise of inactive employees. Eighty
percent of Americans do not meet the recommended daily activity level of 10,000 steps a
day. During the contest, most teams will log more than the 10,000 steps average or each
member of their team.
